Why Steel Casting Is Popular In The Casting Industry?

steel casting manufacturer

Alloy steel - steel, which, in addition to the usual impurities, contains elements, specially introduced in certain quantities to provide the required physical or mechanical properties. These elements are called alloying. Alloying additives increase the strength, corrosion resistance of steel, reduce the risk of brittle fracture. Chromium, nickel, copper, nitrogen (in a chemically bound state), vanadium, etc. are used as alloying additives.

Steel has low casting properties: poor fluidity, high shrinkage (up to 2%). They are prone to the formation of shells, loosening and cracks in the Alloy Steel Casting. The pouring temperature has become significantly higher than the casting temperature of gray iron.

All this complicates the technological process of casting steel in a chill mold. Usually, in chill molds, castings are made from carbon steels of grades 20L, 25L, 35L, 45L, as well as some alloyed steels, for example, steels of grades 110G13L, 5HNVL, etc.

Features of the Technology of Casting Steel in the Chill Mold due to Its Poor Casting Properties

The rational design of the gating system is important, which should create minimal thermal and hydraulic losses in the path of the movement of liquid steel into the chill mold cavity. Therefore, it is advisable to use the supply of metal from above through the profits when combining the functions of profit and riser as far as possible.

Profits are made more often in sand cores or other methods are used to increase the thermal insulation of profits. The Alloy Steel Casting channels should be covered with a sufficiently thick layer of refractory lining in order to avoid cooling of liquid steel and excessive heating of the metal mold.

The temperature of the chill mold should not exceed the values recommended in Table 3.2, since at higher temperatures its durability decreases as well as the plastic characteristics of the metal of the casting.

Types of Steel

Steel casting is divided into two types differing in chemical composition:

1. Carbon steel may contain up to 2% carbon and individual impurities (sulfur, silicon, phosphorus);

2. Alloy steel is a steel casting in which alloying elements are added that significantly improve its properties (tungsten, nickel, chromium, manganese, silicon, vanadium, molybdenum, and others).

Alloy Steel Casting Company Steel Casting Production

For many years, Alloy Steel Casting Company has been making its feasible contribution to the process of steel production of various grades. Thanks to a competent approach to the production process, trained personnel, the use of advanced technologies, experts are able to offer high-precision steel products from castings that will eliminate machining operations, which will affect the cost of finished products and reduce costs.
